Because BACK and FORWARD buttons interrupt the application process and may cause you to lose valuable data you have entered, this Career Section does not allow the use of the BACK or FORWARD browser buttons during the application process.
If you have been using the BACK and FORWARD browser buttons while applying, please close your browser, re-start the application, and be sure to use ONLY the CONTINUE buttons within the actual web pages.
6. I have missed the deadline for a position. Can I still apply?
We are unable to accept applications after the position has been unposted. We encourage you to create an on-line general profile so that your information is entered into the CBC's candidate pool for future opportunities and consideration.
We recommend you attach only a generic resume, as these attached files follow you on each application. To attach a file, select the "Browse" button located to the right of the field. Then, browse for the file you wish to attach. Double click on the file to select it. You can add comments about the file in the "Comments" text box if you wish. Click the 'Attach' button to complete the process.
Note: Candidates can attach up to 5 files, each up to 512kb in size. Pictures, graphics, and scanned pages in resumes or audio files sometimes exceed this size restriction. Please make sure your attachments do not exceed 512kb per attachment.
8. How can I delete a file that I have attached? The system indicates that the maximum number of files has been attached. What should I do?
To delete a file from your profile, please click the 'Delete' button to the right of the attached file in your profile summary.
9. How can I have my candidate profile deleted from your system?
If you wish to have your candidate profile deleted, please email our system administrator at (HRRecruit_admin@cbc.ca) with your request.
10. How do I copy and paste my resume or cover letter?
Open the document you wish to cut and paste text from.
Then, hold the left mouse button and drag to select the text you wish to copy.
Select the text you wish to copy, and then click Copy. Your text is now stored on the computer clipboard.
Go back to the section on the career section where you wish to paste the text, and then, click in the text box with the left mouse button. Your cursor should now appear in the text box. With the right mouse button, select Paste. The selected text should now appear in the text box. The text box may have a scroll bar to help you see your text.
If you do not succeed, select the text you wish to remove the same way you selected it to copy, and press Delete on your keyboard.
11. The system tells me that my text is too large and therefore cannot be saved. What should I do?
Please note that leading and trailing spaces are counted as characters. Also, spaces between characters and words count as characters. If you receive this message, you must remove parts of your text to accommodate the system.
12. I did not receive a confirmation of my application. Why?
CBC/Radio-Canada will only send one acknowledgement for each position that you apply to. Our system is configured to send out confirmations during certain times of the day. If you do not receive a confirmation the same day, then you will receive a confirmation on the second day. If you have updated your application, you will not receive a second acknowledgement confirming your update.
You could select the job offer again and log back into the system as a returning user. All the information that was saved for your application will populate the fields and therefore you can see what was sent.
13. The security code that I received is invalid. What should I do?
If the security code you have received to change your password is invalid: it may be that it has expired or has been invalidated by your email software settings. First, open the web page attached to the message you received and try again by clicking on the link provided. If this fails, request a new security code by going to the application or profile login page, enter your email address or user name and click on "Forgot password?". You will receive a new security code.
14. The link in the email is not working. What should I do?
If you are having problems with the link, please open the attachment sent with the email and try again.
15. I did not complete a job application or general application, but I still received an acknowledgement. Why?
CBC/Radio-Canada has decided to acknowledge your application when you have reached or completed a specific page of the online application. You can still add information to your application if the job is still posted, but you will not receive another acknowledgement. If you have submitted a general application, then you can update your information at any time. Simply log in as a returning user, click on "Submit/Update your profile" link and update your application.
16. I have asked to get a copy of my application via email. Some sections on that email state that the information was not provided but I never saw those sections in the application process. What should I do?
CBC/Radio-Canada has configured its application processes with different sections to choose from. We do not always use all the available sections in one career site. The emails that are sent to candidates include all possible sections listed, whether or not they are used in a career section. Therefore, this does not mean that you should have provided answers in all those sections. It simply indicates that you did not provide the information, but you might not have had the chance to do so, because the section may not have been included in the process selected by CBC/Radio-Canada. For example, CBC/Radio-Canada purposely decided to leave the education and work experience sections of the application n/a because this information is listed on your resume and/or cover letter, hence there is no reason to ask candidates to repeat it in another field of the application.
17. I forgot my password or want to change it. What should I do?
In order to change your password, log on to www.cbc.ca/jobs/ and enter your email address in the appropriate field and then click Forgot your password?
You will receive a Change Password email. Open this email and follow the instructions. If you are having problems with the link, please open the attachment sent with the email and try again. Please note that this email will only be good once to access the application process or change your password.
Once you reach the change password screen, enter the requested information and select your new password keeping the following in mind:
18. I did not get the email to change my password. What should I do?
Please verify the following details:
19. I have received several Forgot Password emails. What should I do?
Please use the last email you have received to change your password.
20. The security code in the email I received is invalid. What should I do?
It may be that you already changed your password or received another Change Password email. Please note that this email is only good once to access the application process and that you must use the last email you have received.
Visit www.cbc.ca/jobs/ and follow the links to the Career Section. Once you are there, you can try and change your password again.
21. I am unable to select multiple answers to a question. What should I do?
The recruiter may have improperly formatted the question. Select one item from the list and add a comment to your cover letter explaining the situation.
22. How do I know that a question is required?
The required questions are identified by an asterisk (*).
23. None of the choices offered for a question correspond to my answer? What should I do?
In order to ensure that CBC/Radio-Canada receives your completed application, please provide an answer. Indicate your choice of answer in your cover letter.
24. I get the message "Answer(s) to the following question(s) exceed(s) the memory allocated to it. Please edit your text." What can I do?
This message means that one or more answers to a text question have too many characters. Please note that you should provide an answer with less then 1000 characters, including leading and trailing spaces, and returns. If you are certain that you comply with these rules, delete you temporary Internet files, reboot your computer and try again. Also, make sure that your browser is updated to the latest service pack.
25. Do you have a fax number where I could send my resume?
Filling in the on-line application is a very effective way of quickly getting your information and resume to the right people within CBC/Radio-Canada. You are required to answer job-related questions for all online postings and these questions can ONLY be answered online. There are many advantages to applying online as well. The process is quick, simple, and you can update your profile at any time so that your information is most up-to-date. Also, you can request that your profile be deleted from our database, at any time, by sending an e-mail to HRRecruit_admin@cbc.ca.
26. Can two people use the same email address to apply?
The email address is used as a unique identifier. Therefore, two people cannot use the same email address to apply on the CBC/Radio-Canada job board. We suggest one person obtains a new email address from a service like Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.
27. How can I change my email address?
In order to change your email address, you must access your personal information in a Candidate Profiler or a Job Specific Application. Go to the login page and enter as a returning user using your old email address. On the Personal Information page, enter your new email address in the Email Address field, and then click the Continue button at the bottom of the page. This new email address is now your new user name that you may use on your next visit.
28. How long does it take to hear from someone at the CBC/Radio-Canada if I have been granted an interview for a position?
