Boston 2, NY Rangers 4

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Jaromir Jagr scored two of New York' four unanswered goals, as the New York Rangers downed the Boston Bruins, 4-2, in exhibition action at Madison Square Garden.

Martin Straka and Martin Rucinsky also scored for the Rangers. Kevin Weekes stopped 27 shots in the win.

Jiri Slegr and Patrice Bergeron each tallied once for Boston, which jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but could not hold on. Tim Thomas allowed four goals on 26 shots in the losing effort.

Earlier Sunday, the Rangers announced that young goaltender Dan Blackburn will retire due to nerve damage in his left shoulder. The 22-year-old highly-touted Blackburn posted a 20-34-2 mark over 63 career appearances with the Rangers.

"We are all very disappointed for Danny," said New York president and general manager Glen Sather. "He is a courageous young man and we wish him well."
