Phoenix 2, Edmonton 5

Edmonton, AB (Sports Network) - Petr Sykora had a four point night for the Oilers, posting a goal and three assists to lead Edmonton over Phoenix, 5-2.

Alex Hemsky had a goal and two assists while Patrick Thoresen added three helpers for the Oilers, who have won three in a row and five of their last six games.

Dwayne Roloson finished with 28 saves for Edmonton.

Jeremy Roenick and Mike Comrie each scored for the Coyotes, who have dropped three straight. Curtis Joseph yielded all five Edmonton goals on 39 shots.

Edmonton drew first blood as Raffi Torres worked a nice give-and-go with Thoresen to pick up his second goal of the season with 7:40 left in the first period.

Then, just 59 seconds later and Edmonton on the power play, Jarret Stoll scored on a one-timer and the Oilers quickly had a 2-0 advantage.

Shawn Horcoff's goal 3:15 into the second period made it 3-0 before the Coyotes answered with two straight goals to cut their deficit to one.

Ladislav Nagy's initial shot was blocked by an Edmonton defenseman, but Nagy managed to collect the puck and pass it in front of the net for Roenick, who tipped the disc past Roloson 7:27 into the second.

Roenick's goal ended a Phoenix scoring drought that lasted 147 minutes and 50 seconds.

Then, just over two minutes later and with Phoenix on the power play, Shane Doan fired a shot from the point and Comrie stuffed in the rebound to make it 3-2.

However, Edmonton responded with two third period goals to ice the game.

Sykora made it a 4-2 game 5:15 into the final period with his sixth tally of the season. Hemsky stole the puck in the Coyotes' zone and sent it to the high slot for Sykora, who fired a one-timer past Joseph.

Hemsky's power play goal with 8:05 left gave the Oilers a three-goal cushion.
