St. Louis 0, Anaheim 2

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Chris Kunitz scored twice on the power play and Jean-Sebastien Giguere stopped 34 shots for his 22nd career shutout in Anaheim's 2-0 victory over the winless St. Louis Blues.

The Ducks, unbeaten after three games, continued their best start in franchise history, also posting wins against Los Angeles and Phoenix.

"Having the depth makes us more confident," said Teemu Selanne, who assisted on both goals. "We have a lot of options, which makes us more effective."

Giguere has been instrumental in two of the wins and has stopped a total of 75 shots. He made 41 saves in a 4-3 victory over the Kings on Friday.

Curtis Sanford made 32 saves for the Blues, who have lost a club-record 12 consecutive road games. This was the finale of a three-game road trip for the Blues, who opened the season with defeats at San Jose and Los Angeles.

Kunitz, who was claimed on waivers from Atlanta on October 18, scored with 3:18 remaining in the opening period. With Eric Brewer in the penalty box for hooking, the Ducks capitalized with the extra man. Selanne blasted a one- timer from the left circle, and Kunitz was in front to tip the puck in the net.

The Ducks again took advantage of a penalty, scoring 35 seconds into the third, this after Martin Rucinsky took a hooking call late in the second. Andy McDonald took a shot from the left side of the crease and Kunitz backhanded it from the right side past Sanford.

"We want our special teams to remain in the up cycle," Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle. "Our power play goal to start the third period was a momentum builder and our goaltender was as strong as any member of our group."

The Blues couldn't catch a break, even on five power play chances. They are now 1-for-16 with the extra man this season.

Meanwhile, the Ducks are 5-for-16.

"Most of our goals have been power play goals," Kunitz said. "That's what happens when you have good chemistry."

Kunitz nearly had the hat trick late in the third period as the Ducks were on a two-man advantage, but he failed on a tip-in attempt in the final minute.
