Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Mike Sillinger and Martin Erat scored in the
third period to lift the Nashville Predators to a 2-1 victory over St.
Louis at Gaylord Entertainment Center.
Tomas Vokoun made 34 saves for the Predators, who put an end to a four-game
losing streak.
Nashville also remains in fourth place in the Western Conference with 94
points.
Mike Glumac tallied the lone goal for the Blues, who have lost 10 straight.
This is the second longest losing streak this season for the Blues, who
earlier in the campaign dropped 11 in a row from October 20-November 12.
Patrick Lalime allowed two goals on 37 shots before leaving the game in the
third period with a leg injury. Reinhard Divis made one save in relief.
The Blues grabbed a 1-0 lead scoring a power-play goal at 11:43 of the opening
period. After a scrum in front, Glumac found a loose puck just outside the
crease and slid the disc through the five hole of Vokoun.
After a scoreless second stanza, Nashville finally got on the scoreboard 41
seconds into the third period.
On the power play, Yanic Perreault controlled the puck parallel to the left
side of the net and from the bad angle shot the disc at Lalime, who made the
stop. Sillinger was right on the door step though to jam home the rebound as
he was checked from behind.
The Predators took their first lead of the game at 2-1 at 3:08 of the third
period. Scottie Upshall made an outlet pass to Erat, who dashed into the St.
Louis zone up the right wing. Erat then cut towards the middle in the high
slot and let go a wrister that beat Lalime through his five hole as he was
sliding across.
St. Louis pulled Divis with about a minute to play in the game, but they could
not generate any quality scoring chances as Nashville played strong
defensively down the stretch.
