The majority of the fee changes will come into force on January 1, 2004, with a few exceptions. For instance, the fees in relation to the functioning of CIPO as an International Searching Authority (ISA) and International Preliminary Examining Authority (IPEA) will come into force in the second half of 2004, once CIPO begins to offer these new services.

Reduced fees for copyright and trade-mark on-line services will come into force January 1, 2004. Certain electronic services, such as certified copies of documents in electronic form will, however, only be available at a date still to be determined.
