Summary

The Canadian Socio-Economic Information Management System (CANSIM II)

CANSIM II is a Statistics Canada time series database which provides detailed and timely statistical information to its users. It contains a wide variety of data on such topics as the system of national accounts, labour force, manufacturing, construction, trade, agriculture and finance. As well, selected demographic and social data such as population estimates and vital statistics are included.

For the last 30 years, CANSIM has provided Canadian business leaders with a strategic information edge. Every day, new information is released through The Daily and is simultaneously released on CANSIM II. With more than 1 million individual times series, you get a broad spectrum of the latest data along with access to historical series dating back decades.

Cost

CANSIM II data costs $3 00 per series when retrieved through the Statistics Canada's Web site or through the Regional Reference Centres. Costs for CANSIM II obtained through Statistics Canada's private-sector partners vary.

The Daily - Bulletin

The Daily is Statistics Canada's official release bulletin. This is the vehicle for first release of statistical data and publications produced by the Agency. It provides highlights of newly released data and cites source information for more detailed facts. It contains weekly and monthly schedules of upcoming major news releases and announces new print and non-print products and new services.

Cost

Free electronic access to The Daily is available on the Statistics Canada's Web site.

Insights on...

This on-line product Insights on... is a newsletter from Statistics Canada (Catalogue No. 61F0019XIE). Using information from the latest Statistics Canada surveys, Insights on... provides factual analysis of emerging trends in Canadian industry, documents what's new in Canadian business, and shows how businesses are responding to the challenges and opportunities posed by new types of business practices - globalization, new technologies, increasingly competitive markets, uncompromising standards of product quality. Each edition of Insights on... will deal with one or two topics. Non-technical analysis and user-friendly graphs will provide a complete and balanced interpretation of the facts - quickly, clearly and concisely.

Cost

Should you not have Internet access, you will still be able to pick up a copy free at any Statistics Canada office. If you need multiple copies or want to have your copy mailed to you, this can be done for a subscription price of $100 per year or $40 per issue.
