Abstract This kit includes the following:Enviro Benchmarking : Unlocking your Company's Potential
Benchmarking is a method of comparing the performance of a company with other companies of similar size doing similar business activities. Benchmarking allows a company to continuously improve their level of performance by identifying the areas where change can be made to improve the way in which they do business. This brochure explains how the CCHREI's EnviroBenchmarking method can provide small to medium-sized environmental companies with the in-depth examination they need to perform to their maximum potential.Enviro Careers : Make a Difference - Tuning into the Environment
This newsletter contains information about careers in the environment industry as well as useful websites and contact information.Environmental Youth Corps : Employers, Explore Your Hiring Options with the Benefit of a Wage Subsidy - Young Professionals, Explore Your Environmental Career Options
The Environmental Youth Corp (EYC) provides a variety of services and a wage-subsidy that covers approximately one third of a young professional's wages during the first year of employment. Employers can use their own network or use CCHREI's pre-screened database to hire young professionals with backgrounds such as engineering, technology, marketing, communications and education. Young professionals, under the age of 30, can apply to participate in the program in order to learn how to do a resumé, what to do during an interview and how to find the right companies for their skills. This brochure explains the eligibility criteria and provides contact information. Human Resources in the Canadian Environmental Sectors : Survey Summary Report
An environmental practitioner is any person who performs work activities that contribute to the protection of the environment, the conservation of its natural resources (including the control of pollution), and environmental communications, research and education. Environmental practitioners work for companies whose primary function is to supply environmental goods and services, as well as for utilities and mining companies, chemical manufacturers, steel makers and the transportation industry and also for government departments, municipalities, academic institutions and research and health care centres, environmental interest groups and industry associations. This report provides key highlights of a national survey completed in 1998, including statistical information on the Canadian environmental workforce, the demand for environmental practitioners, the use of consultants and contractors, the training needs and the importance of entrepreneurial skills. CCHREI : Bridging the Gap Between Canada's Environmental Sectors
The Canadian Council for Human Resources in the Environment Industry (CCHREI) was founded to assist the industry in developing its human resources and to ensure a match between the skills of the environmental workforce and the industry's needs. This brochure contains information about their Environmental Youth Corps program and other initiatives as well as contact information.
