According to this report by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, it costs Canadian businesses $33 billion a year to comply with government rules. This policy report is the result of a survey of 7,300 Canadian businesses. It contains statistical information on the issues that are most important to businesses, the cost of regulation by province, a breakdown of the most burdensome federal, provincial and municipal regulations, examples of regions practising regulatory reform and a ten-point plan for effective regulatory reform.
