Skills Link Program

Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC)

The Skills Link Program constitutes a component of the Youth Employment Strategy. Employers can be a sponsor to this program. The program is funded by HRSDC and offers a range of programs and services that can be tailored to meet individual needs and provide more intensive assistance over longer periods of time.

Eligibility Criteria

Sponsors can be:

  • a business;
  • a crown corporation;
  • an organization (including not-for-profit, professional, employer and labour associations);
  • a public health or an educational institution;
  • a band/tribal council; or
  • a municipal governments.

Eligible Area

All Canadian provinces and territories.

Eligible Activities

A wide range of activities which can be tailored to meet individual employment needs and career goal.

Summary

Project selection is based on local community needs, innovative approaches, targeted participant selection, relevant skills enhancement and work experience, possibility of long-term employment, contributions of sponsors/partners and funding availability.

Size of Financing

The size of financing may vary from one partner to the other.

How to apply?

Interested employers should contact their local Service Canada Centre and consult the Youth Employment Strategy Guide for Applicants. The guide helps applicants develop proposals for federal funding offered by Service Canada under the Government of Canada’s Youth Employment Strategy. It also sets out the specific roles and responsibilities that must be met in projects approved for funding.
