Geographic Programs

Geographic programs are government-to-government assistance programs that Canada executes to benefit developing countries. They are also known as bilateral programs.

CIDA generally executes them through specific programs for a given country, such as CIDA’s Bilateral Program in Ghana.

CIDA may also execute them through sub-regional programs within a continent. CIDA can then support recognized regional institutions. CIDA can also cooperate with all of the governments in a region.
