Legal Services

CIDA’s Legal Services Unit provides legal services to the whole Agency. These include legal policy advice, opinions, litigation support, and general assistance to the Minister, the President, and to senior managers as well as to working-level managers and officers.

The Legal Services Unit reports to the Department of Justice on an organizational, functional, and professional basis. The Unit is the conduit through which the specialized services of the Department of Justice are made available to CIDA. These services include legal advisory services (commercial law, access to information and privacy law, international law, etc.) and the services of litigators related to proceedings involving CIDA.
