Private Sector

CIDA's Private Sector Directorate
(PSD) provides financial support and advice to Canadian firms and institutions, through the following four programs:

1. Industrial Cooperation Program (CIDA-INC)

CIDA-INC supports Canadian firms seeking to create joint ventures overseas, or Canadian firms seeking to provide infrastructure services overseas. Although these are commercial projects, they must also show a high development impact.

For more information, please refer to the CIDA-INC Program Guide or contact a staff member in PSD listed under Eligible Countries and Contacts.

2. Investment Facilitation

PSD funds investment facilitation activities that respond to the development needs of local small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in developing countries. CIDA's PSD will partner with local private sector organizations to fund the establishment and operation of Local Enterprise Investment Centres (LEICs). Through capacity building, improved productivity, and facilitating SME access to financial credit, these LEICs will help SMEs innovate, grow, and create jobs.

For more information, please contact André Leury at 819-994-0492.

3. Institutional Development

Through partner organizations, PSD funds the provision of training, technical assistance, capacity building, and institutional strengthening of private sector organizations working to develop private sector firms in developing countries.

For more information, please contact Jean-Luc Matte at 819-994-7847.

4. Trade Facilitation

PSD funds trade facilitation activities designed to help trade promotion organizations and SMEs in developing countries access new markets. SMEs will be provided with training and technical assistance in export marketing and management (how to identify potential markets and how to export), matching services and supply-chain information, technology implementation, and inbound trade missions.

For more information, please contact Jean-Luc Matte at 819-994-7847.
