The Fund: New Vision, New Partnership
Africa is at the centre of Canada’s cooperation agenda. Through the $500-million Canada Fund for Africa, Canada has taken a leadership role in responding to the first made-in-Africa vision for development, the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), and the corresponding priorities of the G8 Africa Action Plan. Canada was the first G8 country to establish a fund specifically designed for these purposes. The Canada Fund for Africa initiatives are large-scale programs which are regional in scope, complementing ongoing CIDA programming in Africa.

The Canada Fund for Africa is fully allocated to specific initiatives supporting these priorities, virtually all of which are up and running.
