Youth Partners

Each year, CIDA provides thousands of young Canadians with the opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on international development experience. We support a variety of exciting international opportunities for youth through our partnerships with dynamic Canadian NGOs and exceptional educational institutions that can help you make a difference.

CEGEP Rivière-du-Loup’s Volunteer-Cooperant Program Training (French only) specifically aims to prepare cooperants and volunteers who offer cooperation support designed to transfer know-how through partnership between people. The purpose of this training is to contribute to better development of Canadian human resources active in developing countries, and to allow institution building of local organizations, based on the expertise of these young graduates. The program is aimed at a clientele of Francophone Canadians, aged 22 to 32, who already have a college or university diploma or degree.

Child and Youth Friendly Ottawa (CAYFO) is a dynamic charity created in 1997 to improve the lives of young people in Ottawa. CAYFO has various programs that range from collecting used goods for children in need, to an annual awards show that celebrates youth in seven categories, to hosting national conferences on anti-bullying. CAYFO also specializes in youth leadership and providing young people with the tools to excel. CAYFO maintains four websites for local youth.

Club 2/3 (French only, English coming soon) focuses its activities on youth in Canada and in developing countries. The NGO is involved in executing international development programs, development education in Canada and international youth internships.

Global Vision, official organizer of the Junior Team Canada Program (JTC), has been producing global leaders since 1991. CIDA and Global Vision have teamed up to create the Global Youth Ambassador Program, an innovative national awareness and outreach program that seeks to engage Canadian youth in international development and encourage them to make a difference in the world.

Engineers Without Borders works in partnership with developing communities around the world, helping them to gain access to the appropriate technologies they need to improve their lives. They also offer exciting project opportunities for university students both overseas and in Canada.

Plan Nagua, a non-profit non-governmental organization (NGO), works in the area of international solidarity. Since its beginnings, this NGO has been involved in the promotion of sustainable development, and has thus favoured a sound approach that aids initiatives originating from organizations in the South.

TakingITGlobal is a global online community that inspires youth to make a difference and provides a source of information on various issues. It offers opportunities to take action and serves as a bridge to get involved locally, nationally and internationally in your area of interest. This portal is a bridge to events, organizations and scholarships around the world. Youth can also get involved through discussions and workshops.

Youth Challenge International combines community development, health work and environmental research in dynamic projects conducted by volunteers aged 18 to 30.
