Fighter turns Farmer
Tomatoes, wheat, and beans have replaced grenades, guns, and bullets in the life of Hadi and his family. This former jihadi chose agriculture as his training option when he entered the DDR program six months ago. “My family is happy. My life is so much more comfortable now,” he says. Hadi also works at a local school teaching Dari, one of Afghanistan’s main languages, and hopes that his children will be farmers after him, not fighters.
