Host
Lorna Jackson began as the
new host of The World This Weekend on April
10, 1999, but she's no stranger to CBC
Radio listeners. She has been heard on
many CBC programs over the years, most
recently guiding listeners through weekend
programming by providing them with informative
and entertaining program information.
"When I reflect over the years I have spent with CBC, I feel like I have
filled in on just about every show on CBC Radio One and CBC Radio Two," says
Lorna Jackson.
Jackson began her CBC career in the early '70s as a freelance producer and
editor for CBC Television in Edmonton. Since 1980, Jackson moved from television
to CBC Radio. She hosted the children's program Anybody Home, co-hosted the
morning news program The World At Eight with Rex Loring, and was host of the
very popular Food Show and Canada at Five. For more than a decade, Jackson
hosted the concert series Music Around Us. Jackson also hosted many news specials,
including election coverage and political convention coverage.
For the past two years Jackson has been working on the award-winning CBC Radio
web site for kids, CBC4Kids.
