The Canada-Ontario Business Service Centre (COBSC) helps you to easily access information on government programs, services and regulations for business.  As the first point of contact for Ontario's small business community, our knowledgeable and courteous staff are committed to meeting your needs for business information in an effective and user-friendly way.

Our Commitment to Serving Ontario's Small Business Community

  • We strive to make our services known to you;
  • We treat you with courtesy and respect;
  • We provide our service in the official language of your choice;
  • We give our first name when we answer the phone or write to you;
  • You are able to speak to an Information Officer, from 8:30 am - 6:00 pm (Eastern Standard Time), every Government business day; 
  • We answer phone calls promptly, within three rings;
  • You can access the COBSC from all regions of Ontario without long distance charges;
  • The information you request in your call will be provided by your choice of fax, mail or e-mail.  Faxes and e-mails will be sent within three hours of your call.  Mail is sent the same day if your call is received before 3:00 pm (Eastern Standard Time);
  • We strive to make information available through various channels (including electronic means such as the Internet) and intermediaries such as Small Business Enterprise Centres, Enterprise Centres, Community Futures Development Corporations, and other local organizations serving the business community;
  • Our Automated Phone Service and Web site are available for your use 24 hours a day, seven days a week (except during periods of system maintenance);
  • We respond to you by the end of the next business day, upon receipt of your fax, mail or e-mail requests;
  • We provide current information on federal and provincial government business-related products, programs, services and regulations, that is relevant, accurate and up-to-date;
  • If we are unable to provide an immediate answer when you contact us, we will research the answer to your question and provide an estimate of the time required for us to get back to you;
  • If your questions must be referred, we provide you with the telephone number of the contact(s) which will best assist you.  We encourage you to report back on unsuccessful referrals.
