PSETL-Workforce Expansion

Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour - PSETL

Last Verified: 2005-08-17

The Workforce Expansion program provides wage subsidies to eligible employers that intend to create permanent employment, or annually recurring seasonal jobs, in New Brunswick as well as assistance to eligible individuals to help them start their own business or become self-employed.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Private sector employers;
  • Non profit organizations;
  • Unemployed individuals.

Summary

The Workforce Expansion program has two components: The Employer Wage Reimbursement and the Self Employment Benefits.

Wage subsidies and assistance are provided in order to:

  • stimulate the creation of long-term employment opportunities,
  • help unemployed individuals secure permanent employment,
  • stimulate the hiring of post-secondary graduates, and
  • providing employers the opportunity to hire recurring seasonable staff.

Employer Wage Reimbursement
Perhaps you need initial, short-term help paying the wage for an additional employee. Or maybe you operate a seasonal industry and need an extra worker every year for a certain number of weeks. If you are a private sector company, non-profit organization or First Nation Community, there’s help just for you. Employer Wage Reimbursement, part of Workforce Expansion, utilizes temporary wage reimbursements to help you establish permanent employment or annually recurring seasonal jobs.

For more details, see the document  PSETL-Employer Wage Reimbursement.

Self Employment Benefits
Self Employment Benefits can offer you various types of assistance during the start-up period of your business. Assistance can include coaching, ongoing technical advice and financial support. A Self Employment Benefits Coordinator hired by us will help you develop a business plan and guide you through the necessary steps to get your business up and running.

For more details, see the document  PSETL-Self Employment Benefits.
