Skilled trades Day in Canada On October 30, 2006, as part of National Technology Week and Canada Career Week , Skills/Compétences Canada offices across Canada will be hosting and promoting events to raise the awareness of skilled trades and technical careers to youth. This is an opportunity for your organization to get involved in a "hands-on" way to promote these careers to youth. Individuals or groups may participate through the local S/CC office activities, or organizations can host their own events to promote skilled trades careers under the banner of Skilled Trades Day in Canada. There will be hearings in Ottawa in spring 2006 and in autumn, from Monday, September 18 to Friday, October 6. The Committee will travel to eastern Canada (St. John’s, Halifax, Montreal and Toronto) in October and to western Canada (Vancouver, Calgary and Saskatoon) during the month of November.
