British Columbia Crime Victim Assistance Program
This program provides financial assistance and benefits to victims of crime, their immediate family members and some witnesses to offset the costs of the victimization and aid in the their recovery from the physical or psychological impact of the offence.

  • An application must be made within one year of the date of the offence or event. For exceptions, visit the program's Web site.

  • This program does not cover injuries or loss sustained from motor vehicle accidents, or out of or during the course of employment.

  • This program does not cover claims for suffering or loss of stolen personal property.




Canada Victims of Crime Initiative - Emergency Financial Assistance
This program provides emergency financial assistance to individual victims of crime in exceptional circumstances and to surviving family members who incur expenses to attend early parole eligibility hearings.

Canada Canada Pension Plan (CPP) Credit Splitting Upon Divorce or Separation
This program allows the equal division of Canada Pension Plan pension credits in the case of divorce, legal annulment of marriage or separation.

This program seeks maintenance payments on behalf of dependent family members from those who are legally obligated and financially able to pay.

This program allows individuals to apply for a support order, or change an existing support order in another province, territory, or foreign country with which British Columbia has an agreement.

This program provides counselling for children who witness the abuse of a parent.

This program provides counselling for women who have experienced sexual assault, relationship violence, or childhood abuse.

This program provides temporary housing in a safe, secure environment for women leaving abusive relationships, as well as for their children.
