Seniors Rental Housing

This program is designed to provide adequate, affordable rental housing to senior citizens and other individuals in need.

Residents are charged rent based upon income. This program is managed by the Housing Authorities. The operating losses are cost shared by the Province of Nova Scotia, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation and the relevant municipality.

The rent paid is for a fully serviced unit. The units are self contained, and include a stove, refrigerator, heat, and hot water. Some units are designed for the physically challenged. Units are located throughout Nova Scotia.

To Qualify
In order to qualify applicants must complete an application form and meet the criteria relating to income, residency, and core need.

To be eligible an applicant or their spouse must be at least 58 years of age.

Special consideration will be given to individuals with special needs -- such as a physical disability, or those who are victims of family violence.

Assistance Available
Rent is based on your income.
