Nursing Home Placement

Where can I find information about nursing home placement?

The Prince Edward Home, a 131 bed health care facility, provides care under five main categories as follows:

  1. Palliative Care;
  2. Convalescent/Restorative Care;
  3. Respite Care;
  4. Long-Term Nursing Home Care for residents of the Province over the age of 60 who do not require acute general hospital care; and
  5. Long-Term Medical Nursing Care for residents of the Province under the age of 60 and who suffer from chronic disabilities.
In addition these five main categories of care, the facility offers a Day Program for Seniors (Brecken House) which is designed to promote physical and psychological well-being of seniors so that they can remain living a satisfying lifestyle in the community for as long as possible. The facility also offers a Meals-On-Wheels program to citizens of the greater Charlottetown area.
