Post-Secondary Scholarships 


J.W. Pickersgill Graduate Fellowship ($7,500)

One fellowship per year is awarded to a graduate of Memorial University who is enrolled in studies
at a pre-doctorate level in history or political science and who meets the scholarship eligibility
criteria established by the provincial government and Memorial University. The fellowship is renewable
for two years. Applications should be made to the Dean of Arts, Memorial University.

Resource Development Scholarship ($7,500)

Six scholarships per year are awarded to students enrolled in graduate studies in the sciences
related to resource development and who meet the scholarship eligibility criteria as established by
the provincial government and Memorial University. Candidates should apply for the scholarships to the Office of the Dean of Graduate Studies, Memorial University.

Senior Jubilee Scholarship ($3,000)

One scholarship per year is awarded to the student at Memorial University who attains the highest average in the examinations held during the first two semesters of the student's second academic year. The student will have to continue studies at the university or some other institution approved by the minister. No application is required.

Saint Pierre et Miquelon Exchange Scholarship ($2,200)

Four scholarships per year are awarded to Newfoundland and Labrador students attending the Frecker Institute in St. Pierre who meet the eligibility criteria as established by the selection committee. Application should be made to the Department of French and Spanish, Memorial University.

Newfoundland and Labrador Forest Service Scholarship ($2,000)

One scholarship per year is awarded to the student enrolled in the third semester of the Forest
Service Resources Technology Program at College of the North Atlantic, who achieves the
highest weighted average for the first two semesters of the program.

Dr. Arthur Barnes Scholarship ($1,200)

One scholarship per year is awarded to a student at Memorial University who has successfully completed two years of a degree or diploma course. The university shall take into account scholastic achievement and promise, qualities of character, economic need and any other relevant factor. No application is required.

Dr. William W. Blackall Scholarship ($1,200)

One scholarship per year is awarded to a student at Memorial University who has successfully completed two years of a degree or diploma course. The university shall take into account scholastic achievement and promise, qualities of character, economic need and any other relevant factor. No application is required.

Dr. Vincent P. Burke Scholarship ($1,200)

One scholarship per year is awarded to a student at Memorial University who has successfully completed two years of a degree or diploma course. The university shall take into account scholastic achievement and promise, qualities of character, economic need and any other relevant factor. No application is required.

Rev. Dr. Levi Curtis Scholarship ($1,200)

One scholarship per year is awarded to a student at Memorial University who has successfully completed two years of a degree or diploma course. The university shall take into account scholastic achievement and promise, qualities of character, economic need and any other relevant factor. No application is required.

Ronald K. Kennedy Scholarship ($1,200)

One scholarship per year is awarded to a student at Memorial University who has successfully completed two years of a degree or diploma course. The university shall take into account scholastic achievement and promise, qualities of character, economic need and any other relevant factor. No application is required.

Agricultural Scholarship ($1,000)

Three scholarships per year are awarded to Newfoundland and Labrador students who enter the first year of the B.Sc. (Agr.) or B.Sc. (Agr.Eng.) courses at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College with the highest averages in the subjects required for admission. If there are insufficient students admitted to the first year of the program, the remaining scholarship(s) are offered to a student (or students) entering the second and, if necessary, subsequent years with the highest average (or averages). No application
is required.

Centenary of Responsible Government Scholarship ($1,000)

Fifty-two scholarships per year are awarded on the basis of academic achievement to a student registered in a course of study at Memorial University, the Marine Institute, or College of the
North Atlantic. To receive the award the student shall continue appropriate studies on a full-time or part-time basis at one of the institutions referred to above or some other institution approved by the minister. No application is required.

Florence O'Neill Adult Education Memorial Scholarship ($1,000)

Five scholarships per year are awarded to students enrolled in the Level 3 Adult Basic Education Program in College of the North Atlantic who attained the highest marks in the provincial scholarship exam.

David Lawrence Memorial Award for Literacy ($500)

One award per year is given to a student who is enrolled in the Adult Basic Education, Level I
program at College of the North Atlantic for at least two consecutive terms. No application is required.
