Oceans Program Activity Tracking (OPAT)

The Oceans Program Activity Tracking (OPAT) system is a dynamic Internet mapping tool that provides geographic information and facts on activities taking place under the Oceans Programs of Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

OPAT contains a wealth of information on Integrated Management, Marine Protected Areas, and Marine Environmental Quality program activities taking place across the country. You can find the latest information on each activity, including geographic extent (maps), objectives, partners involved, achievements, key contacts, and more...

The system also links to oceans use information from other government departments overlaying their data on OPAT's platform to increase the system's utility as a useful and dynamic oceans planning tool. Information such as:

This information is continuously being updated to better serve all those who have an interest in the conservation and sustainable development of Canada's ocean resources.

OPAT is designed to increase national and international awareness of Oceans Program activities under Canada's Oceans Act, and to facilitate the involvement of coastal communities; social, cultural, environmental and economic organizations; aboriginal groups; governments; and others in effective oceans management.

Once in OPAT, you can select projects, zoom into maps for more detailed information, view multimedia, or read and print project information. A detailed user guide along with first time user information is also provided should you need assistance.
