Examples of cooperation :

  • St. Lawrence Observatory : scientific data portal developed in partnership with Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Economic Development Canada and Saint Lawrence Vision 2000
  • Jardin Marin: project developed in partnership with École Norjoli, Les Jardins de Métis and the Maurice Lamontagne Institute and officially launched on World Oceans Day, June 8, 2001. Its main objective is to promote the importance of the St. Lawrence and the oceans. (Available in French only).
  • Ecotourism and data collection: during its daily expeditions at sea, the Explorama Discovery Center of Sainte-Anne-des-Monts collects temperature, salinity and plancton biomass depth profiles. Equipment and software provided by MLI scientists offer tourists interested in oceanography a hands-on experience in data collection and visualisation. In turn, the scientific information is forwarded to MLI where it is validated and used by our scientists.
  • Sentinel Fisheries Program :  cooperation between the fishing industry and DFO in order to develop time series of abundance indices to be used in the assessment process of cod stocks.
  • Whales On-Line - The Whale Researchers: cooperation between MLI scientists and the Group for Research and Education on Marine Mammals (GREMM).
