Area 24
Effective immediately the harvest prohibition for all bivalve shellfish (except 
butter clams and scallops) has been lifted in Subareas 24-7 and 24-10 to 24-12.

The most recent marine biotoxin results were acceptable.

SUMMARY

The following information in this fishery notice reflects Paralytic Shellfish 
Poisoning (PSP, red tide) and other marine toxin closures as of November 19, 
2007 for bivalve shellfish (oysters, clams, scallops, mussels, and geoducks).  
Note that this fishery notice does not describe sewage contamination closures.

Area 1
Subarea 1-5 is closed to all bivalve shellfish except razor clams and scallops;
Balance of Area 1 closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Area 2  
Subarea 2-1 is closed to all bivalve shellfish except oysters and scallops;
Balance of Area 2 is closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Areas 3 
Subareas 3-14 closed to all bivalve shellfish except cockles;
Balance of Area 3 is closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Note: the openings in subarea 3-14 are under agreement with the Nisgaa First 
Nation for the food, social and ceremonial harvest of cockles only.

Area 4
Closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Area 5
Subareas 5-3, 5-4 and 5-10 closed to all bivalve shellfish except butter clams 
and cockles;
Subareas 5-6, 5-8, 5-9 and 5-12 closed to all bivalve shellfish except cockles;
Balance of Area 5 is closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Note: 
The openings in subareas 5-6, 5-8, 5-9 and 5-12 are under agreement with the 
Gitxaala (Kitkatla) First Nation for the food, social and ceremonial harvest of 
cockles only.
The openings in subareas 5-3, 5-4 and 5-10 are under agreement with the 
Gitxaala (Kitkatla) First Nation for the food, social and ceremonial harvest of 
cockles and butter clams only.

Area 6
Subareas 6-15, 6-16, 6-18 and 6-19 closed to all bivalve shellfish except 
geoducks and horse clams;
Balance of Area 6 closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Area 7
Subareas 7-3, 7-4 and 7-9 closed to all bivalve shellfish except geoducks and 
horse clams;
Subarea 7-17, portion of sanitary closure 7.2, waters and intertidal foreshore 
from northern tip of Spirit Island to Robins Point, including Kliktsoatli 
Harbour, Whiskey Cove and Whiskey Slew near Shearwater on Denny Island only is 
closed to all bivalve shellfish except manila clams and littleneck clams;
Balance of Area 7 closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Areas 8 to 11
Closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Area 12
Subareas 12-1 to 12-26 and 12-35 to 12-42 closed to all bivalve shellfish 
except butter clams;
Balance of Area 12 closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Area 13
Subareas 13-1 to 13-12, 13-15 and 13-17 closed to butter clams only;
Subareas 13-13 to 13-14, and 13-16 closed to butter clams and scallops;
Subarea 13-18 closed to all bivalve shellfish except spiny and pink scallops;
Balance of Area 13 closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Area 14 
Subareas 14-5, 14-8 and 14-15 closed to butter clams only;
Subarea 14-13 closed to scallops only;
Balance of Area 14 closed to butter clams and scallops.     

Area 15
Subarea 15-1 and 15-2 closed to butter clams and scallops only;
Subarea 15-4 and 15-5 closed to butter clams, geoducks and horse clams only;

Areas 101 to 111, 121, 123 to 127, 130 and 142.
Closed to all bivalve shellfish.

NOTES
Details are broken into Areas and Subareas, as managed by Fisheries and Oceans 
Canada (DFO).  Subarea information is not in the British Columbia Sport Fishing 
Guide, but it is readily available in non-navigable Subarea management charts 
that can be obtained at DFO offices.  In addition, descriptions of Subareas are 
set out in the Pacific Fishery Management Area Regulations.  These regulations 
are available at libraries and from the DFO Pacific Internet at:
