![]() ISO 9001 Registration The Canadian Hydrographic Service Quality Management System (QMS) was registered to the ISO 9001 International Standard, in November 2001, by Deloitte & Touché Quality Registrar Inc. This was the culmination of two years of effort by CHS employees to design, build and implement a quality management system that would meet the rigorous requirements of the ISO 9001 Standard. CHS joins a small number of federal government offices to have achieved this milestone recognition and an even more elite group to have done it to the new version of the Standard released in December 2000. The new version, ISO 9000:2000, is a much-improved QMS model demanding more focus on process-management, client satisfaction, continuous improvement and involvement of senior management. Quality Management CHS Quality Management System (QMS) is based upon the ISO 9001 International Standard. This systematic approach to quality management furthers the CHS commitment to quality in business processes as well as production processes. Though the quality management system is still in its infancy there have been significant achievements made during the transition to ISO 9001 Registration. It has achieved regional flexibility while meeting common business rules. It has also created a renewed sense of unity. The further advancements in quality stem from the change from end of line inspection to a process level quality management system.
