The Communications Branch works closely with the other DFO branches in the Gulf Region, providing advice and support in communication actions relating to their programs and activities.

The activities of the Communications Branch are aimed at facilitating communication between the fishing industry, the marine industry, the media and DFO, enhancing the visibility of the Gulf Region, producing and distributing publications, audio-visual documents and other types of presentations, and supporting national programs and the Minister.

The Branch's current activities include preparing news releases and backgrounders, managing publications, the regional Internet site and special communication-related projects, advising DFO branches in the region, and participating in various exhibitions and events.
