SARA banner Species at Risk Act
Welcome to the Fisheries & Oceans Canada Pacific Region website for the Species at Risk Act (SARA). This site houses information and links on aquatic species the Department is currently undertaking activities for.

October 2005
Four Species Proposed for Listing under SARA: The Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC) has designated the following four species as at risk:
North Pacific Right Whale - Endangered Whale - Endangered
    Fin Whale - Threatened
    Green Sturgeon - Special Concern
    Bering Cisco - Special Concern

Fisheries and Oceans Canada is now seeking public input on whether to add these species to Schedule 1 of the Species at Risk Act. Please visit http://www-comm.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/pages/consultations/ consultation2005/workbook_e.htm for more information, and to fill out a SARA Legal Listing Consultation Workbook. Thank you for your participation!
