Reporting in the 1970s did not provide a detailed breakdown of species caught in each province, hence, only higher level data is presented here. Landed quantities and values by species and by province are provided for 1980 through 1989.

The data presented here is based on information collected by the regional offices of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, provincial fisheries agencies, the Freshwater Fish Marketing Corporation and fish processing companies.
