BONWICK ANNOUNCES REHABILITATION OF FLOATING DOCKS AT THORNBURY HARBOUR

March 12, 2004

THORNBURY – The Honourable Paul Bonwick, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Human Resources and Skills and Member of Parliament for Simcoe--Grey, announced today on behalf of the Honourable Geoff Regan, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, that the federal government will invest approximately $50K in 2004/05 towards safety-related repairs at the Small Craft Harbours facility in Thornbury, Ontario.

"The harbour is of great importance to the community in Thornbury," said Mr. Bonwick. "The completion of the repair work will provide a safe marina and encourage tourism for the municipality."

This federal funding will allow the Town to carry out its proposed 2004 program for refloating a portion of the harbour docking system. It is anticipated that the work will begin this spring and be completed prior to the boating season.

This project is being undertaken by the Small Craft Harbours Program in Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
