CHS PUBLISHES 2001 PACIFIC COAST CATALOGUE
OF NAUTICAL CHARTS AND RELATED PUBLICATIONS

Sidney, BC – The Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS) of Fisheries and Oceans Canada announced today the publication of the 2001 edition of the Pacific Coast Catalogue of Nautical Charts and Related Publications.

The 2001 Catalogue features:

• Updated listings of CHS Pacific Region charts and chart dealers;
• Clearer presentation of chart limits, especially for small craft charts and the central coast;
• Easier to use numerical chart listings; and,
• New photographs and descriptions of nautical publications, including electronic chart data on compact disc (CD).

The 2001 Catalogue is now available from your local CHS Chart Dealers or the CHS Sales and Distribution Office. There is no charge for this publication.

The Canadian Hydrographic Service is responsible for surveying Canadian navigable waterways and for producing a number of nautical publications, including nautical charts, sailing directions, bathymetric maps and tide and current tables. These products are commonly used by commercial vessels, commercial fishers, tugboat operators, and recreational fishers and boaters.

Since its founding in 1883, CHS has earned respect nationally and world-wide. While the tradition and integrity of Canada'’ early chartmakers has been maintained, the Canadian Hydrographic Service, utilizing the latest technological advances such as GPS and multibeam acoustics, has kept pace with the demands of today’s world to protect lives, property and the marine environment.
