SALMON RIVER RE-OPENINGS IN MIRAMICHI WATERSHED, NEW BRUNSWICK

Moncton -- The Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Gulf Region, wishes to advise recreational anglers and the public that due to improved water conditions in the Miramichi watershed in New Brunswick, many rivers and pools have been reopened as of Saturday, September 1, 2001. The decision to reopen the rivers was taken in consultation with the province of New Brunswick and the Miramichi Watershed Management Committee. Areas affected are as follows:

Main South West Miramichi

  • Wilson Brook at the Bear's Den in the tide way in Upper Derby.
  • Mouth of White Rapid Brook.
  • Mouth of Bartholomew.
  • Mouth of McKenzie Brook.
  • Mouth of Black Brook.
  • Mouth of Mill Brook in Blissfield.
  • Mouth of Big Hole Brook in Doaktown.
  • Mouth of Bett's Mill Brook at Doaktown.
  • The Cains, Renous and Dungarvon Rivers.
  • Quarryville Pool.

North West Miramichi

  • Mouth of Sutherland Brook at Red Bank.
  • From Wayerton to the mouth of Little River.
  • The Main Sevogle River and the North and South Branch of the Sevogle.

The Department of Fisheries and Oceans wishes to advise anglers that Indian Town Brook remains closed.
