Services Québec

Bill 63, An Act respecting Services Québec, was assented to on December 15, 2004 by the National Assembly. The implementation of Services Québec has been confided to Henri-François Gautrin, the Minister of Government Services. In April 2005, Francine Martel-Vaillancourt was appointed Chief Executive Officer of this agency.

Mission

To offer citizens and businesses throughout Québec a single window for simplified access to numerous public services.

First implementation step

Services Québec is an agency in the process of being implemented. Communication Québec is the solid foundation on which Services Québec is based. Hence, all services offered by Communication-Québec have been transferred to Services Québec and all of its offices have become offices of Services Québec.

Basket of initial services

At first, the services provided by Services Québec are general services meant for citizens and businesses from the range of services already offered by Communication-Québec, as well as certain services that have been confided to Services Québec by a few departments and agencies. Hence, the Service québécois de changement d'adresse, launched at the beginning of June 2004, is found at Services Québec. The Companies section of the Portal of governmental services, which also includes the Citizens section, has also been transferred to Services Québec.

The number of services offered at Services Québec will gradually expand, based in many respects on what was done in New Brunswick. At first, Service New Brunswick offered 40 services, at the beginning of the 90s. Now this single window offers close to 200.
