Canada's SchoolNet

Industry Canada (IC)

Last Verified: 2006-02-28

Canada's SchoolNet is a collaborative initiative between federal, provincial and territorial governments, education associations and the private sector. Canada's SchoolNet works to ensure that Canadian schools and libraries can take full advantage of the Internet by increasing access and supporting the integration of information and communication technology (ICT) into the learning environment.

The SchoolNet portal is an online resource for educational content, offering access to more than 7,000 learning services, resources and opportunities. Visitors can explore specially designed learning projects, view digitized Canadian historical information, contact experts in using technology, conduct research and participate in online forums. Students can even get help with their homework. Developed by teachers across the country, this is truly quality content that teachers, students and parents can use!

Eligibility Criteria

SchoolNet is available to anyone with Internet access.

Summary

Canada's SchoolNet supports the Government of Canada's Innovation Strategy aimed at developing an ICT-skilled population capable of participating successfully in the knowledge economy and making Canada known throughout the world for its culture of excellence, innovation and productivity.

Canada's SchoolNet focuses on developing skills for the new economy, preparing young Canadians for the global knowledge society and helping all Canadians take full advantage of the learning opportunities presented by the Internet.
