The Transportation Energy Technologies (TRANSET) supports efforts by Canadian industry to develop and deploy technologies and fuels that provide a cleaner, more sustainable energy mix for our roadways. Key activities include the development of alternative transportation fuels such as alcohol, natural gas, and propane, and advanced transportation systems, including electric vehicles, fuel cells, hydrogen and hybrids.

Eligibility Criteria

Players involved in transportation, such as original equipment manufacturers, industry associations, fleet managers, transit authorities, utilities, universities, other federal departments and other levels of government.

Summary

TRANSET assists industry in responding to a growing worldwide demand for more environmentally responsible transportation alternatives, while enhancing Canada's competitive edge in the changing transportation marketplace.

TRANSET supports R&D through cost-shared agreements, frequently under multiple-partner arrangements. Program activities are oriented toward the development of technologies with short to medium-term commercial and market potential. R&D priorities are set by technical experts from industry and government, and proposals are generally submitted in response to requests for proposals issued by Public Works and Government Services Canada's Science Branch. Partners in research include a variety of players involved in transportation, such as original equipment manufacturers, industry associations, fleet managers, transit authorities, utilities, universities, other federal departments and other levels of government.
