Library Services

Members of the BIO community have access to the full range of services offered by the Library. Members of the general public may use the Library onsite, photocopy material, and consult with a librarian in person, by email or telephone for help with their information needs.

Borrowing
BIO indeterminate employees and alumni may borrow books and documents for a period of three weeks. Longer loans may be arranged.

Students, contractors, interns, post-doctoral fellows, and visiting scientists at BIO must complete a "Borrowing Privileges" form signed by their supervisor and submit it to library staff.

Individuals outside the BIO community may borrow material by submitting an interlibrary loan request through their own university, public or corporate library.

The Library has access to a wide variety of print and electronic reference sources, and experienced and knowledgeable staff ready to assist you in finding the information you require.(more info ... )

Interlibrary Loans (ILL)

Citation Searches
The Library is able to determine for BIO staff how often a paper has been cited as a reference in other published works. If you are interested in this service, please have a publication list ready.

Book Purchases
BIO staff may recommend titles for the Library's collection. Requests may be submitted in person, via e-mail, or by completing a Purchase Request form available at the Reference Desk. The Library can also provide publication information for users ordering items for their own use.

Tours
Orientation tours are given throughout the year for BIO staff; there is usually a tour in the spring, especially for summer students. Tours can be arranged at any time, for individuals or small groups.
