Ontario Health Premium The Ontario Health Premium (OHP) was introduced to help improve health services in the province. Revenues from the OHP will also be invested to enhance preventative health measures and expand mental health services, contributing to a healthier Ontario.
The legislation was effective January 1, 2004. The OHP deduction from employee pay and pension cheques (where taxable income is over $20,000 per year) started July 1, 2004. It is being included with the deductions for federal and Ontario income tax. |
