Canada Export Awards

The Canada Export Awards recognizes the success of Canadian companies that export their products and services to markets around the world.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible companies must be based in Canada and have actively exported products or services for at least three years.

Selections for the Canada Export Awards are guided according to the following criteria, but not limited to:

  • significant increases in export sales over the past three fiscal years;
  • success in introducing new products and services into world markets;
  • success in breaking into new markets.

Other achievements in export markets that contribute to Canada's economic well-being, or to the reputation of a firm as a world-class exporter, are also considered.

Eligible Area

All Canadian provinces and territorires.

Exportation of products.

Summary

Under the auspices of the Canada Export Award Program, a number of Special Awards are presented:

  • Exporter of the Year Award ( for companies who have demonstrated their ability to deal with risk/difficulty, ingenuity, and have an outstanding story to tell);
  • Lifetime Achievement Awards (given to companies receiving a Canada Export Award for the third time);
  • Sponsor-branded Achievement Awards (given by the program sponsors for achievements in areas such as job creation, innovation and technology, youth training, the environment, and to small and medium-sized exporters whose annual sales are under $50 million, and to large exporters with total sales of over $50 million).

Benefits

Canada Export Award winners are featured in a national promotional campaign that recognizes their accomplishments as exporters. Benefits to winners include, among other things:

  • increased credibility with customers, which may translate into increased sales;
  • team spirit booster through acknowledgment of employees contribution;
  • national and local media coverage profiling the winners, increasing visibility with customers;
  • high quality video clips about winners distributed to national and local television stations;
  • distribution of winners' profiles to Canadian embassies and consulates abroad, as well as to International Trade Centres across Canada;
  • use of Canada Export Awards logo for three years in promotional materials.

Nominations

Firms can be nominated for a Canada Export Awards by a third party (e.g., individuals, associations, organizations or governments) or may apply directly. The deadline for receipt of applications for 2005 is September 19, 2005.
