TeleReply is an electronic reply service for payroll deductions. Employers can inform the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) by phone if they have no payroll deductions remittance to make during a remittance period.

Eligibility Criteria

TeleReply is available across Canada to employers who meet all of the following conditions:

  • you had no employees who are subject to payroll deductions;
  • you want to report a nil remittance;
  • the correct name and Business Number are on the printed remittance voucher we sent you.

You cannot use TeleReply if:

  • you do have employees who are subject to payroll deductions and you must remit these funds;
  • you've already advised the CRA that your account has permanently ceased operations, or is either closed or bankrupt.

Summary

TeleReply is fast, free, and easy to use. This toll-free phone service is available every day except Sundays and statutory holidays.

By calling TeleReply toll-free at 1-800-959-2256, you don't have to mail in a printed remittance voucher, and your reply is processed faster. As well, you'll receive immediate confirmation that your reply has been received. To find out more, visit CRA's Web site.

If you require personal assistance, visit the Tax Service Office closest to you (see Related Reading: Business Window - Supplement or CRA's Web site for a list of addresses).
