Summary

The Customs Act governs the administration and enforcement of customs laws. Section 11 of the Customs Act provides a list of all persons who must present themselves at the nearest designated customs office that is open for business upon their arrival in Canada.

The Presentation of Persons (Customs) Regulations explain the circumstances and conditions under which persons arriving in Canada are exempted from the requirement in subsection 11(1) of the Customs Act to present themselves upon arrival at the nearest customs office.
