The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 3:42 p.m. this day, in Room 371 West Block, the Chair, Paul Steckle, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: David L. Anderson, James Bezan, Wayne Easter, Roger Gaudet, Larry Miller, Denise Poirier-Rivard, Gerry Ritz, Paul Steckle and Rose-Marie Ur.

 

Acting Members present: Merv Tweed for Larry Miller.

 

Associate Members present: Merv Tweed.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Denis Fréchette, Principal.

 

Witnesses: Pest Management Regulatory Agency: Karen Dodds, Executive Director. Canadian Association of Agri-Retailers: Bob Evans, President; Jeff Kisiloski, Technical Affairs Coordinator; Steve Lepper, Member of the Board of Directors. Pest Management Regulatory Agency: Trish MacQuarrie, Director, Alternative Strategies and Regulatory Affairs.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food be granted a travel budget of $43,934.00 to travel to Riding Mountain National Park, Manitoba during the week of October 3, 2005.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed a review of the activities of the Pest Management Regulatory Agency during the past six months.
 

Karen Dodds made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 4:43 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:44 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Bob Evans and Steve Lepper made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:20 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
