The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met in a televised session at 11:10 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C Centre Block, the Chair, Paul Steckle, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: David L. Anderson, Charlie Angus, James Bezan, Claude Drouin, Wayne Easter, Roger Gaudet, David Kilgour, Larry Miller, Denise Poirier-Rivard, Gerry Ritz, Paul Steckle and Rose-Marie Ur.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Analyst; Jean-Denis Fréchette, Principal.

 

Appearing: Hon. Andy Mitchell, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food.

 

Witnesses: Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food: Leonard J. Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2004-2005: Votes 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 under Agriculture and Agri-Food referred to the Committee on October 8, 2004.
 

At 11:10 a.m., the Minister made a statement, and with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

On motion of David Kilgour, it was agreed, — That correspondence from David Kilgour to Paul Steckle, distributed to the members of the Committee on October 29, 2004, be appended to today’s Evidence.

 

At 1:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
