The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 11:05 a.m. this day, in Room 269 West Block, the Vice-Chair, Gerry Ritz, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: James Bezan, Claude Drouin, Wayne Easter, Roger Gaudet, David Kilgour, Larry Miller, Denise Poirier-Rivard, Gerry Ritz and Rose-Marie Ur.

 

Acting Members present: Bev Desjarlais for Charlie Angus and Maurice Vellacott for David L. Anderson.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Allison Padova, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Pacific Railway: Marcella Szel, Vice-President, Marketing and Sales Bulk; Janet Weiss, General Manager, Grain, Marketing and Sales Bulk. Canadian National: Ross Goldsworthy, Vice-President , Bulk Commodities; Paul Miller, Vice-President, Transportation Services. Inland Terminal Association of Canada: Robert Davies, Chief Executive Officer, Weyburn Inland Terminal Ltd..

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced its study of Grain Transportation: The Hopper Car Fleet.
 

Marcella Szel, Ross Goldsworthy and Robert Davies made statements, and with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

On motion of Rose-Marie Ur, it was agreed, — That the Committee accept a request forwarded by CIDA for James Morris, Executive Director, World Food Program to appear jointly before this Committee and the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade on November 22, 2004, at 3:30 p.m. in Room 308, West Block.

 

At 1:03 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
