The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 308 West Block, the Chair, Paul Steckle and Kevin Sorenson, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: David L. Anderson, James Bezan, Claude Drouin, Wayne Easter, David Kilgour, Gerry Ritz, Paul Steckle and Rose-Marie Ur.

 

Acting Members present: Serge Cardin for Denise Poirier-Rivard.

 
Members of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade present: Stockwell Day, Alexa McDonough, Dan McTeague, Beth Phinney and Kevin Sorenson.

Acting Members of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade present: Dean Allison for Ted Menzies, Bill Casey for Belinda Stronach, Mario Laframboise for Francine Lalonde and Keith Martin for Bernard Patry.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Marcus Pistor, Analyst. Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Stephen Knowles, Clerk of the Committee.

 

Witnesses: United Nations World Food Programme: James T. Morris, Executive Director; Dianne Spearman, Director, Office of the Deputy, Executive Director, Policy and External Affairs Department.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced its study on World Food Supply.
 

James T. Morris made a statement and, with the other witness, answered questions.

 

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
