Background


MAF History

  • 2002-2003 - As part of the Comptrollership Modernization initiative, extensive research on management assessment models used by different countries
  • Summer 2003 - MAF created in response to request from the Secretary of the Treasury Board for an integrated management framework
  • Fall 2003 - First set of "operational" MAF indicators to support the first round of bilaterals
  • Winter 2003 - Completion of TBS data capture to create the first MAF profiles for 27 departments.
  • Spring 2004 - Completion of bilateral meetings between the Secretary of the Treasury Board and 27 deputies.
  • Fall 2004 - Second set of MAF indicators
  • Winter 2004 - Completion of data capture to create MAF profiles for over 50 departments and agencies. Some departments and agencies provided input for some MAF indicators.
  • Spring 2005 - Completion of bilateral meetings with 33 deputies. Plans for visiting a handful of smaller agencies over the summer of 2005
  • Summer 2005 - Workshops with departments to refine 2004 MAF indicators - leading to a revised set of MAF indicators for 2005.
  • Sept 2005 - Decision to align MAF assessments with the government's Planning and Reporting Cycle.

    • Departments to be engaged earlier
    • Selected deputy level bilateral meetings to be completed before the end of January 2006.
