New Brunswick Public Service Internship Program

Thank you for your interest in the New Brunswick Public Service Internship Program. Here you will find application instructions, details of available positions, as well as information on the selection process.

The program is open to recent university graduates (2005 or 2006) and to those who will be graduating in the spring of 2007.

Successful candidates will begin employment in May 2007 with an annual salary between $34,060 and $38,792.


HOW TO APPLY:

Each position has a competition number; please include the relevant competition number on your application.

You may apply for more than one position. If you are applying for more than one position, make sure to send a complete application package for each competition number.

Applications close October 20, 2006. All applications received after this point will not be considered in the selection process.

  • When you apply online, make sure that you complete the section asking for a one-page statement (cover letter) telling us why you are the person we need for the job.
  • For each position you are applying using e-Recruitment, you will also need to mail us a copy of your most current university transcript at: Office of Human Resources, Staffing, Development and Human Resource Policy Division, Room 349, Centennial Building, P.O. Box 6000, Fredericton, N.B. E3B 5H1. Indicate the competition number on each copy.

If you prefer, you may apply by mail by submitting a complete application package for each position you are applying for comprised of:

  • A completed application form
  • A one-page statement (cover letter) telling us why you are the person we need for the job
  • Your most current résumé
  • A copy of your most current university transcript

Any application that does not contain all of the required information outlined above will be considered incomplete and will not be considered any further in the selection process.


SELECTION PROCESS

  • After the closing date (October 20, 2006) all applications will be reviewed and all candidates will be informed as to whether or not they met the requirements of the position(s).

  • Those candidates meeting the requirements must successfully complete testing which will be held on November 18, 2006 and will only be held in New Brunswick. Some positions will require second language evaluation which will be conducted during the weeks of January 2 to 12, 2007. The language evaluation will be conducted through a telephone interview.

  • Based on test results, all candidates will be informed as to whether or not their application will be considered further in the selection process. At this time the best candidates will be invited for an interview (February-March 2007).

  • Successful candidates will be notified in March-April 2007 and will begin their internship in May 2007.

  • Once all of the candidates are selected for the Internship Program, the remaining qualified candidates will be added to the government’s employment database which is available for departments to make appointments in the public service.
