Requests for seed are received from researchers from around the
world. The National Tree Seed Centre is a well-known supplier of
seed for research. Researchers from provincial and federal government
agencies and universities are the principal clients. Seed has been
used for a number of diverse projects such as provenance trials,
isozyme studies, germination tests, molecular investigations, and
tissue culture, to name a few. As expected, most seed is shipped
to Canadian clients. However, about 20% of the requests are from
clients in foreign countries. Seed has been shipped to over 50
countries on all continents except Antarctica.
