  • Fighting Forest Fires
Every summer, thousands of hectares of Canadian forests are destroyed by fire. Over the years, the technology for battling these devastating blazes has changed as we struggle to keep the balance between humans and nature. In these activities, students will have the opportunity to identify how forest-fire fighting technology has changed, to create a mascot that symbolizes and encourages forest-fire prevention, to create a museum display highlighting various aspects of fighting forest fires, to research the role of managed forest fires, and to create a brochure to educate the public about the technology of fighting forest fires.
